Specifications

The DTS-6AD provides superior quality digital and analog sound playback by combining the functions of a cinema processor, 6-track digital processor, and booth monitor into a single 4-unit-high package. The DTS-6AD delivers precise reproduction of analog and digital sound sources, and connection to automation systems.

The DTS-6AD uses a simple, durable design for maximum reliability. All main processing is done on three plug-in boards, with separate power supplies for digital boards and analog board. The analog supply also provides power when in the bypass mode, and an optional external power supply connection is available.

DTS cinema products provide premier-quality digital sound for motion pictures by delivering an exact copy of the studio master recordings to neighborhood theaters. This marks the ultimate performance possible in a cinema sound delivery system. Now, every moviegoer can hear the sound exactly as the filmmaker intended.

The 6-track analog input is available for a 300mV external source. The two status control functions connect to theater's automation system and to external digital playback system for sense and control functions. An external noise reduction loop connection is selectable for balanced or unbalanced and can be fed into an external N.R. or to output another Lt/Rt signal such as mag print master playback.

The main output provides user-selectable wide band or bi-amped outputs. Jumpers enable use of ouputs for THX sound systems or speakers with built-in crossovers. A plug-in resistor header determines crossover frequency: 500Hz and 800Hz standard, other frequencies special ordered. Jumpers also select balanced or unbalanced outputs for all channels, as well as screen loss compensation and time alignment delays for the stage channels.

EQ for stage channels and surrounds is accomplished in digital domain along with both A-type and SR noise reduction. Three SP/DIF digital audio pairs are available for left, right, center, subwoofer, and left & right surrounds.

B-chain alignment is easily accomplished with on-screen display and built-in pink noise generator. EQ settings can be copied from one channel to another, allowing faster setup. Each channel has bass and treble control as well as third-/single-octave EQ adjustments. Individual output levels are set with trumpets, and on-screen display level adjustment allows SPL fine-tuning.

Booth monitor buttons select one or combination of all 6 channels, and are selectable between processor output and return from power amps. An additional button turns internal speaker on/off. External speaker connector is available on rear panel. There is an overall master fader on the front panel, and remote fader connections on the rear panel.

A non-sync source connector is available and its input level is set by trimpot. Menu selected signal routing to surrounds can be used for audio coverage when curtains are closed.

In the by-pass mode, the signal from the solar cell is routed to the screen outputs, and a trimpot is used to adjust its volume.

A universal fused power supply allows connection to any AC power source.
